Preparing for your wedding is one of the most important factors that you should be consider. We posted a full list of things which you should be prepare prior to the specific period in order to give you a little help.
This list of things are just some examples, you won't need to prepare all of them, it is all depend on how big your wedding will be.
9 to18 month prior to the wedding day
- Inform both sets of parents about your decision to get married
- Consider hiring a wedding consultant
- Announce your engagement, if any
- Announce your wedding in local newspapers, if necessary
- Decide on the budget and how to share the expenses
- Decide the date and the banquet style of your wedding
- Choose and reserve the banquet hall/hotel/restaurant/golf club.
- Compile the guest lists
- Arrange for the clergyman and church/civic centre booking
- Choose your maid of Honour, bridesmaids, best man, groomsmen, ushers, ring bearer and flower girl, etc.
- Decide on color schemes; choose your gowns, headpiece, shoes, bridesmaids’ dresses, and other accessories, and schedule fittings
- Select and book your photographer and videographer
- Select and book your hairstylist and make-up artist
- Attend bridal shows
- Develop a record-keeping system for invitations, gifts, and thank you cards
4 to 9 month prior to the wedding day
- Shop for wedding rings and order engraving
- Book the limousine
- Select a florist
- Select the groom’s tuxedo
- Shop for both parent’s attire
- Set appointments for facials, manicures, hairstyle and make-up trials
- Select a wedding registry if applicable, choose wedding gifts you want and inform your relatives and friends
- Decide on music, a DJ, a band or a musician
- Order invitation cards and stationery
- Work on your invitations – mail out-of-town guests
- Reserve accommodations for out-of-town guests
- Reserve a hotel room for your wedding night
- Plan new living arrangements and home furnishings
- Make honeymoon travel plans and check your passport
- Arrange for physical examinations and get blood tests
- Update your immunizations
- Check marriage license requirements
1 to 3 month prior to the wedding day
- Finalize guest lists with parents and family- send out invitations
- Arrange for a meal test for the dinner banquet
- Finalize your banquet menu and the number of tables
- Order the wedding cake
- Purchase the cake knife, ring pillow, candles, garter, toasting goblets, fountain pen, and guestbook, dragon-phoenix banner for signatures and red envelopes for “lucky money”, etc.
- Plan reception seating prepare place cards and master guest list
- Order liquor and beverages
- Arrange for ice sculptures, if necessary
- Choose music for the ceremony and the reception
- Send thank you notes for the gifts that you have received
- Contact guests who have not responded
- Arrange for your life, auto and home insurance
- Final dress fitting on bride and attendants
- Have your wedding portrait taken
- Select a song for your first dance, and go to take a dance lesson, if necessary
- Confirm the hotel room for your wedding night
- Confirm your honeymoon reservation
2 weeks prior to the wedding day
- Confirm ceremony details such as personal vows and readings
- Review legal, medical and church document
- Pick up Wedding rings
- Work on the ceremony programs
- Confirm details with the master of ceremony, etc.
- Provide attendants’ parties with your guests list and any contact information
- Arrange a luncheon on your wedding day
- Finalize floral, cake and transportation details
- Confirm the schedule with your hairstylist, make-up artist, DJ and band, Photographer and videographer
- Provide the caterer with your final count of guests
- Pack belongings for moving to your new home
- Pick up tickets and exchange currency, if necessary
- Begin packing for your honeymoon
1 week prior to the wedding day
- Rehearse the ceremony
- Give the marriage license and the wedding rings to the best man
- Prepare all the payments in marked envelopes for services and the people hired
- Organize a bridal kit
- Relax and have a good sleep
